The British Pacific Properties is an upscale residential area in West Vancouver located above the Upper Levels Highway. The land was purchased by A.R. Guinness-British Pacific Properties in 1932 and developed as the British Properties. 1,600 acres were purchased at a cost of $50 per acre. The British Properties helped finance the development and construction of the Lions Gate Bridge which opened in 1938. Today, the average single family house is built for in excess of $4,000,000, and it is home to some of Vancouver's most affluent families.
